The company specializes in exploration, mining, extraction, processing and selling of solid minerals where gold, copper, zinc and lead are priority metals.

NMC TAU-KEN SAMRUK JSC is a member of the group of companies Samruk Kazyna National Welfate Fund JSC. In addition the company is a partner of Glencore International (Swiss trading company) and has 29,8%-interest in the authorized capital of Kazzinc LLP.  In December 2016 the company acquired a stake in Silicon Mining LLP from Investment Fund of Kazakhstan JSC.

The most significant contracts previously signed were two contracts with the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the extraction of barite-polymetallic ores and silver at Tuyuk deposit in Almaty Region and for the subsoil use of the combined exploration and mining of tungsten and molybdenum ores at High Kayraktinskoye deposit in Karaganda Region.
